For which trips can I get Insure To Study insurance?

Our insurance policies are designed with study and internship trips in mind. They can also be used when you are going abroad to do volunteer work or when you’re travelling to learn a language.

What is the cover area of Insure To Study insurance?

The cover area is from the whole world to an EU country and from an EU country to the whole world.

How can my partner and/or children apply for Insure To Study insurance?

If your partner is going abroad with you, they can apply for insurance through the website. Do you also want to insure your child(ren) because they are going abroad with you? Then please contact us. We can arrange the insurance.

How can I pay my premium?

You can pay your premium online for the period you choose using iDEAL or a credit card. You can pay monthly, quarterly, annually or all at once.

When will I receive my insurance documents?

Once your payment is processed you will immediately receive your pre-policy by email. You will receive your insurance card within 2 working days.

Can I renew my Insure To Study insurance?

Before your insurance expires, you can extend it. You can also do this if, for example, you have finished your studies or internship and want to go on a holiday afterwards.

How can I claim my expenses?

There are 2 types of claim forms, one is for medical claims and the other for all other claims. Fill in the form completely and send it to us, signed and with the original invoices. Once we receive the claim form, we will process your claim immediately.

What insurances are included in the 3 options?

  • Medical and dental expenses (Master Plan and Master Plan+ only);
  • Additional medical expenses on top of your EHIC (European Plan only);
  • The accidents cover pays out if you become permanently disabled due to an accident, your next of kin will receive a benefit in case of your death;
  • With the luggage and household goods cover, your luggage is insured during your trip. Once you have arrived at your destination, your household goods will also be insured;
  • The calamities cover covers those expenses that occur in case you have to return to the Netherlands due to a serious illness, but it also pays out if your 1st or 2nd degree relative has died and you want to return to the Netherlands immediately;
  • Liability insurance covers damage you accidentally cause to third parties;
  • The legal assistance insurance helps with expenses abroad if you have a legal conflict.

Are pre-existing conditions also insured?

We also offer cover that includes pre-existing conditions, the Master Plan+ insurance.

When do I contact the SOS Helpline?

Call the SOS International Helpline on +31 206 515 777 in case of emergencies, available 24/7. Save this number in your mobile phone before you go abroad. You can then call the helpline directly in case of:

  • Hospitalisation
  • Accident or serious illness
  • Unexpected travel and/or accommodation expenses
  • Repatriation: if you want to return home immediately in connection with the death of a family member of the 1st or 2nd degree

What does EHIC stand for?

EHIC stands for European Health Insurance Card. If you have Dutch basic health insurance, you can use this card abroad to prove that you are insured for health costs in the Netherlands. If you do not yet have an EHIC, apply for it free of charge from your basic health insurer before you leave to go abroad.
